Sheila Ruth Quinn
1936 – 2023
Sheila Ruth Quinn passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at home in Lancaster, California. Sheila was born in 1936 in Toledo, Ohio to Cecil A. Genske and Ruth Esther Sheldon Genske. Sheila attended the University of Colorado in Boulder where she met Robert Quinn. In 1955 they were married and lived happily in Colorado until Robert graduated. From there they moved to Canoga Park, California, where they lived for two years before moving to Lancaster.
Sheila was a stay-at-home mom who kept busy with their five children and volunteering her time. While her children were in elementary school, she actively volunteered at the school. She also belonged to a ladies’ group where she made friends that lasted the rest of her life. Once her children were grown, Sheila became an integral part of the Grace Resource Center. She took her volunteer work there very seriously and thrived on helping those less fortunate in
the Antelope Valley.
But most of all Sheila was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was proud of her family and dearly loved her husband Bob, to whom she was married for over 67 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Bob, sons Robert Quinn (Sue), and Mark Quinn (Kim), daughters Jeanette Quinn (Andrew Carmen), Nancy Jenkins, and Donna Visokey (Andy). She was very proud of her grandchildren Patrick Quinn (Jessica), Erin Brown (Michael), Heather Kelley, Matthew Quinn, Jessica New, Andrew Visokey (Dana), Adam Visokey, and Nathan Visokey (Kimberlee). Sheila felt extra blessed with her most
recent joys, her seven great-grandchildren, Hayden, Ethan, William, Lucas, Brody, Colton, and Trinity Rose.
A celebration of Sheila’s life will be held at Grace Chapel, 44648 15 th Street West, Lancaster, CA at 2:30 PM on Sunday, June 11, 2023. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations may be made to the Grace Resource Center at
